Introduction to common materials for machining

1 carbon steel:

a. Ordinary carbon structural steel: mainly used for engineering structures and common parts, such as building structures, bridges, ships and other building structures; rivets, screws, nuts and other parts with little force.

b. High-quality carbon structural steel: commonly used in the manufacture of important mechanical parts, generally subjected to heat treatment to improve mechanical properties before using.

2 copper and copper alloy

a. Pure copper:

The color of pure copper is purple-red, its conductivity and thermal conductivity are second only to gold and silver, and its plasticity is very good. It is easy to be processed by cold and hot pressure. Good corrosion resistance in the atmosphere and fresh water. It commonly used cold working methods to manufacture wires and cables and prepare copper alloys.

b. Brass:

Brass is a copper alloy with zinc as the main element.

Ordinary brass is divided into single-phase brass and two-phase brass. Single-phase brass is very plastic, and is suitable for cold and hot deformation processing. The two-phase brass has high strength and good plasticity in the hot state, and is suitable for hot deformation processing.

3. Aluminum and aluminum alloy

a. Aluminum:

Aluminum is a silver-white metal with good electrical and thermal conductivity and good corrosion resistance. It has low strength, low hardness and good plasticity, and can be processed by cold and hot deformation. It is widely used in electrical engineering, aerospace and automotive industries.

b. Aluminum alloy:

An appropriate amount of silicon, copper, magnesium, zinc, manganese and other alloying elements are added to the pure aluminum to form an aluminum alloy. Aluminum alloy includes rust-proof aluminum alloy, hard aluminum alloy, super-hard aluminum alloy and forged aluminum alloy.

4. Nylon

It has the comprehensive properties of good toughness, wear resistance, fatigue resistance, oil resistance and water resistance, and it is frequently used in lathes, milling machines to process spare parts used in some equipment, such as small shafts, wheels, wear-resistant sleeve parts.

5. POM.

It has high mechanical strength, rigidity, and the strongest fatigue strength in polymer materials. It also has good environmental resistance, organic solvent resistance, good electrical properties and wide temperature range (-40 ° C ~ 120 ° C).

6. UHMWPE:

With excellent impact energy absorption, the impact energy absorption value is the highest among all plastics, so the noise damping performance is very good. Currently UHMWPE has been in textile, paper, packaging, transportation, writing, chemical, mining, petroleum, construction, electrical, Widely used in food, medical, sports and other fields
